SBSC Coaching Staff
Coach Mark Stori is a highly respected coach with extensive experience at all levels of competitive swimming. He began his local coaching career with SBSC over a decade ago and most recently served as a key member of the UCSB coaching staff, helping lead the men’s and women’s teams to conference championships this past February. During his time at UCSB, his athletes consistently broke school records and achieved top finishes at the conference level.
As a swimmer, Mark was a four-year varsity athlete at the University of Iowa, where he served as team captain his senior year and qualified for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials in the 200 backstroke.
Beyond his coaching credentials, Mark is a very popular and active member of the Santa Barbara aquatics community, with deep ties to club, collegiate, masters, and open water swimming.
Hannah Holman was
born in Colorado but grew up training in the Arizona swimming
community. She was introduced to swimming, when her Mom - a
Westmont Track and Field Alum - tried to find a way to escape the
summer heat by putting Holman and her 3 siblings in summer
recreational leagues. She swam for Phoenix Swim Club and Scottsdale
Aquatics Club. While a member of these teams, she won several state
championships and made finals at the sectional and junior
national level. She was a member of a relay that broke a national
age group record.
After high school, Holman attended the University of Tennessee. At
UT, she reached the finals of the SEC Championships, made the
NCAA team as a relay member, and attended both the Canadian Olympic
Trials and United States Olympic Trials. Additionally, Holman
pursued a Bachelors in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology and
later her Masters in Speech Language Pathology.
Upon graduation, Holman began working as a speech language
pathologist within Scottsdale Unified School District and later
within Santa Barbara Unified School District. She also coached
the swim team at her old high school and was the assistant coach
for several groups at her old club Scottsdale Aquatics Club. More
recently, she has been an assistant coach for the San Marcos High
School swim team in addition to a volunteer assistant coach
for the women's swim program at Westmont. Currently, Holman is
one of the speech language pathologists at San Marcos High
School. She still swims for exercise because she loves it and is
starting to catch the triathlon bug.
Coach Nancy is in her 20th year as a coach at SBSC. She brings a unique combination of skills from her career as a professional athlete, her work as a physical therapist, and her lifelong calling to teach and coach youth.
Nancy began her swimming career at age 9 in Tennessee, competing for the Tri-City Barracudas Swim Club. In high school she earned All-American status. After high school, she competed for East Carolina University, earning Collegiate All-American recognition. Nancy then began competing in triathlons, racing nationally and internationally. She achieved professional status and raced as a sponsored athlete. Her dedication to training and sport earned her a position on the National Triathlon Training Team. Nancy was recently inducted into the Bristol Tennessee Athletic Hall of Fame.
When an injury
interrupted her athletic career, this was a turning point. She
decided to further her education and become a physical therapist.
She earned her graduate degree in physical therapy (Cal State
Northridge) and has worked in the outpatient orthopedic
setting since the 1990s. She is a Wilderness First Responder with
certifications in Wilderness Advanced Life Support and Safe Swim
Defense. Her knowledge of health and physiology contributes to her
expertise as a swim coach and stroke
technician.
Teaching and coaching youth is a big part of Nancy’s life. As a young adult, she created outdoor educational programs for the National Park Service and National Forest Service. She was a co-founder of a foundation to support public elementary education in Santa Barbara. Nancy has served for years as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 26, where she works with teens and is the health officer and aquatic programs director.
From 1987-1999, Nancy coached at SBSC with former SBSC Head Coaches Larry Liebowitz and Ira Kline. She was Head Age Group Coach at the SBSC satellite site (Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club). Nancy has helped swimmers achieve SCS All-Star Team selection. She was honored as an All-Star Coach by Southern California Swimming in the 1990s. She was pleased to return to SBSC coaching in 2020 and is now in her 20th year with the Club proudly serving under Head Coach Mark Stori.
Coach Wright joins Santa Barbara Swim Club from the North Carolina Aquatic Club in Chapel Hill, N.C., where he served as lead coach for more than 50 athletes across the Senior 2 and Senior 3 training groups. He played a key role in developing and expanding the Senior 3 program, growing it by over 100% since its start in 2022. Wright also worked directly with the 13–14 age group and frequently supported the 8 & Under program.
Before coaching in North Carolina, Wright was a professional athlete with A3 Performance in Tucson, Ariz. During that time, he collaborated with A3 management to host swim clinics nationwide, test and help design new technical racing suits and equipment, and promote the brand through marketing and on-deck engagement.
As an athlete, Wright competed for the University of Arizona from 2014–2018, serving as team captain his senior year. He was a member of the United States National Team from 2017 to 2021, earning a world ranking of sixth in the 200-meter butterfly and capturing the 2018 U.S. National Championship title in the same event. Hi! My name is Caylei Crews, and I grew up in San Diego, California. I competed in both swimming and diving for four years in high school. I coach the Pre-Comp, Dolphins, and Waves 1 groups, and my favorite part of coaching is watching kids improve and gain confidence in the water. It is such an amazing and rewarding experience to see their hard work turn into progress.
Hello! My name is Thomas (Tommy) Estrada, and I grew up in Little Rock, California. I have been a competitive swimmer since the age of five and continued through college, and I bring that lifelong connection to the sport into my coaching every day.
I have been a swim coach for 13 years, getting my start at 16 coaching youth programs for Los Angeles County Parks & Recreation, where I also served as a lifeguard and helped expand access to aquatics for children from diverse backgrounds. Over the years I have coached in a variety of environments, including roles as a lifeguard, coach, and instructor with College of the Canyons and Canyons Aquatic Club, working extensively with 12 & under swimmers on skill development, conditioning, and meet preparation. I also coached age group swimmers at the Danvers (MA) YMCA Dolfins Swim Team, where athletes under my guidance qualified for New England Championships within the program’s first two years and I was frequently requested for private lessons by families seeking individualized instruction.
My favorite part of coaching is watching my swimmers develop a sense of pride in themselves, both in and out of the pool. I strive to create a positive, safe, and growth-focused environment where athletes of all levels feel supported, challenged, and valued, and I take pride in building strong relationships with families through clear communication, trust, and consistent follow-through.
Clare Grim is a Santa Barbara native who grew up swimming for SBSC. After competing in club and high school swimming, she attended California State University, Chico, where she studied History. Although Chico State does not have a swim team, she continued to swim recreationally and teach swim lessons.
Clare now works primarily with the Waves 1 group and occasionally helps out with Waves 2, and her favorite part of coaching is watching swimmers build the same kind of lifelong friendships she made at their age.
Hi! My name is Zoey Lauritzen, and I started coaching for SBSC in October 2025. I grew up as a synchronized swimmer and later began teaching swim lessons to all ages in May 2022. Hi! My name is Mia Lee, and I’m from the island of Guam, a tiny U.S. territory in the middle of the Pacific. I grew up in competitive swimming and spent four years on the Guam National Team, with many of my favorite childhood memories centered around the sport. I currently coach the Waves, Junior, and Senior groups, and I really enjoy seeing younger swimmers fall in love with swimming in the same way I did.
Trinity has been swimming competitively since the age of six, growing up balancing both gymnastics and swimming before ultimately choosing to focus on swimming at twelve. The strength, body awareness, and mobility she developed through gymnastics gave her a strong foundation and early advantage in the pool. She later competed at the Division III collegiate level in Washington and now works primarily with the Junior White group at SBSC.
Trinity is currently in her final year at Santa Barbara City College. Having worked as a physical therapy aide, she values mobility and joint health for young athletes and emphasizes healthy movement alongside performance, with plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology by 2028.
Christina McDermott tried out for her first swim
team at her local YMCA in Bellevue, Washington, shortly after her
seventh birthday. She swam a passable freestyle, a questionable
backstroke, and nothing else. From there, she went on to swim
competitively for thirteen years. Christina swam on the Bellevue
Club Swim Team, where she qualified as a scholastic All-American,
and for Bellevue High School, where she was a team captain. She
later competed at New York University and was a member of the
conference team.
Christina has coached swimming at Santa Barbara Swim Club since
2022; she currently coaches Waves I. Often, her time at Los
Baños del Mar Pool is the most fun part of her day. She
loves helping young swimmers grow in skill and
confidence.
My name is Gabby Pasillas, and I grew up in Corona, California. I swam competitively throughout high school and for two years at community college. I currently coach the Dolphins and Waves 1 groups, and my favorite part of coaching is watching swimmers grow and improve while sharing my passion for the sport with them.
Coach Billy Schulte grew up in Santa Barbara, where he swam and played water polo throughout high school. He brings that multi-sport aquatic background to SBSC, working with our Dolphins group and quickly becoming one of the most animated, fun, and favorite coaches on deck. Billy’s passion, energy, and enthusiasm are contagious, creating a positive environment where young swimmers are excited to learn and improve. He often says he always feels better after working with the Dolphins, and he loves helping them learn to swim and spending time around their boundless energy.
