Junior Blue
AGES 12-15
ENTRY PREREQUISITES

Competition Criteria:  3 x 11-12 BB Times  (Must be in two different distances, 50's of stroke do not count except for the 50 FR)
Please note the following are considered the same distances: 400/500, 800/1000, 1500/1650

Practice Criteria:

  • 8 x 25 @ :30
  • 6 x 50 Kick with a board @ 1:10 
  • 8 x 50 Free @ :45
  • 4 x 100 Free @ 1:40 
  • 4 x 100 IM @ 2:00 
 

Character Criteria: Be coachable. Be a good teammate. Be hard-working. Take responsibility.

DESCRIPTION

The focus of this group is to refine and continue to develop the swimmer’s skills with more exposure to conditioning, endurance training, and racing (Which is the focus of Senior level swimming).

Swimmers generally compete in local  level swim meets and travel out of the region. Swimmers are encouraged to attend all scheduled sessions offered each week.

Skills are still being developed to advance to the next level.

The next progression is based on age (Senior White) or achievement (Senior Blue).

PREREQUISITES AND PROTOCOLS FOR PROMOTION

Promotion to SENIOR WHITE AND SENIOR BLUE will be offered three times a year on 2/1, 6/1 and 9/1. .

Swimmers may be eligible for Senior Blue if they:

  1. Have achieved two 15-16 A times and two 15-16 BB times. (Two different strokes and/or distances)
  2. Have a record of 80% attendance for 1 year
  3. Have completed the 13+ IMX
  4. They can complete the following practice sets:
    1. 10 x 100 Swim @ (FR @ 1:30, evens IM @ 1:40)
    2. 10 x 50 Kick @ 1:00
    3. 3 x (1 x 200 S FR @ 3:00, 1 x 200 S IM @ 3:20)
FUNDRAISING

All Senior families are required to complete 15 Service Hours per year. Participating in the teams annual Narwhalathon is highly encouraged with a goal of $200 Fundraising.
